The University of Leeds has embarked upon an ambitious digital transformation journey, underpinned by a 10-year strategic vision and the adoption of Microsoft's Azure Cloud Platform. With these foundations in place, the Data Services Team seeks to deliver high quality data with robust governance and management to the wider university community, eventually including research data.
They sought a technical partner to help design a cloud native modern data platform architecture and implement it as a fully DevOps enabled turnkey blueprint, which would enable them to rapidly provision multiple instances for emergent use cases, both tactical and strategic in nature to deliver tangible benefits.

In a competitive tendering process, endjin was selected as the preferred partner to deliver the technical solution, upskill and mentor the Data Services team ensuring they were self-sufficient, to establish adaptable DevOps processes which could evolve as new requirements emerged as the adoption of the platform increased, and to collaborate with the Data Governance team and the IT Services team to ensure University standards were applied and updated to deal with the regulatory and compliance requirements of data workloads which included sensitive and personally identifiable information.
The project was delivered successfully over a number of months, resulting in an upskilled and empowered Data Services team capable of independently managing and evolving the modern data platform architecture in alignment with the university's strategic objectives.
